Serkos Haroutounian is a professor of Chemistry at the Laboratory of Nutritional Physiology & Feeding of the Agricultural University of Athens and the elected First Vice-President of the Executive Board of the FAO (FoodAgricultural Organization) of the United Nations for Europe and Central Asia.
His research focuses on the applications of Organic-Analytical Chemistry in the field of circular economy, mainly in the utilization of agri-food by-products and waste, with the aim of developing new (natural and synthetic) bioactive formulations for their use as nutritional supplements, functional foods, medicines and biocides.
